Occupational Electricity Safety

Wednesday, November 28 - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This interactive course is fashioned to be of value to everyone from a handyman homeowner to a licensed electrician. This is, first and foremost, a safety training. It begins with basic electrical theory and explores the various wiring methods likely to be encountered by anyone working on both residential dwellings and commercial occupancies. It’s intended to explain the “how” and “why” of electrical system construction, component function, and associated hazards. Reference will be made to the National Electrical Code, various OSHA Standards, and the NFPA-70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace.

Digital Multimeters in Practice

Thursday, November 29 - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This hands-on workshop is for anyone who wants to learn what all those buttons on a digital multimeter are for. A wide assortment of meters and DMM manufacturers will be showcased in the labs, and included in 21 separate lab exercises. This course explores technical aspects of electrical theory and meter functions, but is designed to make multimeters and the most technical parts of electrical systems accessible to all participants.
